In an inkjet printer market trending toward lower-priced products, few single function printers are available at present, and multifunctional inkjet printers are the mainstay of the market. This peripheral device offers functions that include a scanner and photocopier as well as a printer. The multifunctional inkjet complex printer is growing in popularity because it is more economical than purchasing three separate peripheral devices, and has a smaller footprint. Here at NEC Electronics we are cooperating on the development of a multifunctional inkjet complex printer by providing a customized image processing IC combining the know-how and technology of the manufacturer. We are also promoting a move to one-chip for the main microcomputers and other functions, thus responding sensitively to market demands and manufacturer needs.
